The Generation Project's summer/fall launch tour--sponsored and hosted by Rugby Ralph Lauren--made a stop on the West Coast on September 30th at the Rugby store in San Francisco. The event was particularly meaningful to all of us here at The Generation Project, as we were pleased to announce our intention to expand our operations to the Bay Area next year!
As had been the case at all of our previous stops, we were greeted by enthusiastic guests who enjoyed an open bar, hor d'ouvres, raffled shopping sprees from Ralph Lauren and--of course--the opportunity to design personally meaningful opportunities for students growing up in low-income areas. Donors designed a wide array of creative gifts based around their personal passions, including:
- -$25 for calligraphy pens
- -$40 for a model R/C car with working gears
- -$50 for a copy of Disney's Earth and supplies to make dioramas of the habitats in that film
- -$75 for a gift entitled "Artsy Fartsy" that aimed to expose students to the arts
- -$100 for a digital camera for a budding photographer
In San Francisco, we had the privilege of being introduced by pop singer
Marie Digby--one of our first donors--who spoke about her experience sponsoring a songwriting contest. Check out our highlight of
