The Generation Project, an innovative, web-based education nonprofit is seeking dynamic, passionate, and hard-working interns to join our staff and play a vital role in our national expansion.

- Cover letter in email form explaining why you want to intern for The Generation Project
- Attached resume (include relevant work experience and GPA)
- List (in descending preference order) of positions for which you are applying
- At least one reference who can speak to your work in a professional setting
- Availability for an interview January 17-19, 2011 (or earlier if you submit before the deadline)
- Availability for training (to take place in-person or online) January 20-23, 2011
Logistics:
All internships are “virtual” which means you don’t need to report to an office. Interns are managed through weekly conference calls and frequent email communication with their teams and executive staff members. All positions are currently unpaid. Strong performers will be considered for full-time employment upon graduation.

Campus Directors
Description: Campus directors build awareness on their campuses and are responsible for engaging student groups and community organizations/businesses in giving back through The Generation Project. Campus Directors meet regularly with their teams to develop strategy and execute their outreach plan. Campus teams also have the opportunity to learn from andcollaborate with teams on other campuses. Open positions include:
- Northwestern (3)

Chief of Staff (1) – Chicago
Description: This is a management position. The Chief of Staff reports directly to the President/CEO. Responsibilities include management of some intern teams,management of the CEO’s calendar, coordination of logistics for projects and events, and management of other aspects of the daily operations of The Generation Project. Applicants should have experience managing people to high expectations and firm deadlines.
Accounting (1) – Any city (Chicago preferred)
Description: The Accounting Intern works directly with thePresident/CEO and/or executive board members to keep books updated and file all necessary tax forms which include payroll taxes (state and federal) and the federal 990 form (public report of a nonprofit’s annual budget expenditures).
PR/Marketing – Any city (prefer that teams are based in the same city so feel free to apply with a friend)
Description:
- Video (2-3): Video Marketing Interns are responsible for creating a YouTube video campaign that will build awareness and encourage donors to give through The Generation Project. Experience producing videos is a must. Some travel may be required.
- Press (2): Press Interns are responsible for securing at least one story per region and coverage in at least three national media outlets by the end of the internship. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
- Graphic design (2): Graphic Design Interns are responsible for developing marketing materials that can be shared with potential donors and sponsors. Materials will include an info sheet, brochure, and various templates (events, flyers, etc.) and could include website design. Strong writing skills and experience with graphic design are a must. Social Media (1)
Description: The Social Media Intern will join a veteran intern in building The Generation Project’s online presence. Goals include general awareness-building and donor/partner cultivation through online platforms. Knowledge of social media and strong written communication skills are a must.
Corporate Giving
Description: Corporate Giving Interns will cultivate partnerships with companies that will result in new donors. Applicants should have strong verbal and written communication skills and be very organized. Experience and connections in business are a plus. Corporate Giving Interns will have the opportunity to collaborate with interns from other regions.
- Hiring (2) in EACH of the following cities: Chicago, Detroit/SE MI, New York City, Washington, DC, New Orleans, SF Bay Area
- Hiring (1) Director, Corporate Giving who will serve as point person for all efforts and report directly to the President/CEO. Chicago preferred but not required.
Individual Giving
Description: Individual Giving Interns will cultivate partnerships with companies that will result in new donors. Applicants should have strong verbal and written communication skills, have organization skills that will allow them to manage and analyze large sets of data, and be very friendly/personable. Individual Giving Interns will have the opportunity to collaborate with interns from otherregions.

- Hiring (1) Director, Individual Giving who will serve as point person for all efforts and report directly to the President/CEO. Chicago preferred but not required.
Online Community Engagement
Description:
- User Experience (4): User Experience Interns are responsible for engaging new and repeat donors on the giving platform. Interns must be well organized, be social media savvy, and have excellent written communication skills because they will be communicating via email with donors and educators. They will manage re-engagement goals to ensure at least 25% of donors give again before the end of the school year.
- Impact (2): Impact Interns will be responsible for collecting and analyzing The Generation Project’s impact. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required because interns will communicate externally with donors and educators.
Gift Implementation (2) – Any city
Description: Gift Implementation Interns will join two veteraninterns who are responsible for implementing and tracking all giftdonations. This high-paced,demanding position requires strong organization skills and strong written andverbal communication skills. Experience online shopping is a plus (finally away to put your online bargain hunting skills to use!).
